meaning to get over this way and say Congrats! glad all went well on the home birth~ the Lord is faithful and He is with you in all those amazing contractions, isn’t He? :)
and isn’t it amazin how once the baby is in your arms it is all so worth it and life would never be the same w.out him. blessings. praying for you and your husband as you prepare for this next time of him being away. alyssa
I so feel for you, I could not imagine having a new little one and then saying goodbye to your husband for a year. Enjoy the time you have as a family now, and pray for Gods strength in the months to come.
My heart breaks a bit for both you and John – for you to be without his support and company, and for him to be leaving his wife and boys behind. Praying that God will show up, bigger than you’ve ever imagined, and that He will carry you through.
Oh Ashleigh, I’m so sorry about this! May God strengthen and encourage the both of you during this time. Unfortunately, I remember those times in my own life, both as a daughter and as a wife.
Oh wow! Will you be staying in San Diego or coming back to 29 palms when John leaves? I will be praying for you guys! Ben and I both will! I can’t wait to see you this sunday! I will be there…Ben probably won’t..he has to work. See you soon! :)
If you need any help, we can arrange times for Mom and I to come down and assist you for a while. We’re only about 30 miles away, so anytime you need anything, you just say so.
P.S. Yes, I designed Troy’s quilt, as well as Ariana’s, and Mom sewed them.
I’ve been reading your blog for a while, linked over from Katie B’s. I keep wanting to leave comments but didn’t want to have to explain who this stranger is who cares about you and feels like she knows you. So there, introduction done. I think you’re fabulous and I love reading your thoughts and about your life.
So all that to say that I’m praying for extra blessing on your time together these six weeks as a family, that all four of you would be fully present with each other and that God would fill each of you up to overflowing to sustain you through the time John is away.
My brother is also in that Sandy Spot right now and I’ve been across the world for half a year without my husband, and I understand a little bit of the challenges you face. Certainly not the same, but I understand a little.
And while I’m already leaving a super-long comment, let me just say that the link to your birthing center and your birth story have been part of the journey I’ve been on to no longer be afraid of giving birth.
My heart goes out to you, Ashleigh. My fiance spent 15 months there, and I know he may go again in the future. I will be praying for you and your family.
Ashleigh, John is a hero to many, including me. But you’re a hero too! Keeping the home fires burning while your Marine is away is a comforting thought to him, I’m sure.
I will stop in and remember to pray for your family. I am a mama with her son in Afghanistan for one more Christmas, then he is home for good in Feb. You are SO in my heart and prayers. God bless each of you in a special way. Diane
The build up is always the hardest isn’t it? My heart goes out to you and your family, from one marine wife to another. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog with two little ones I can relate. Hang in there and enjoy the time as a family.
I can barley stand to look at this picture without filling up with tears. I know its reality and all but I do so love that guy! Its weird cause you never really expect to grow that close to your cousins husband. I know we are family and so we say “I love you” and all that but going through Merritts birth and spending so much time with you guys and just really getting to know him. Of course I will be praying and I know you will be staying with me and I will be staying with you but if you two need some date nights while Troy and Merritt are asleep you know who to call! I will come if you want an all day date too, I just know you guys want as much family time as possible. So while the kids are sleeping you two could take a long walk on the beach, go out to dinner, all kinds of things. Fiffy is here!!!!!!! I love all four of you tons!
Ashleigh, I know you are glad to have this Christmas time together surrounded with family. Please tell John “thank you” for serving us…and also a heartfelt hug of thanks to you as well while you keep the home fires burning in his abscence. You all are in my prayers.
I’m sorry to hear that he’s going over. When you find out where he’s going to be at maybe you could let me know? Brian will be heading over in March for the first time as well. Maybe they’d be close to each other. We’ll be praying for you.

I can hardly let myself think about your separation – and I don’t even really know you!
I will be praying for you and asking God to bring you both an unexplainable, indefinable peace throughout the entire deployment.
Blessings on you.
