It's the start of a crazy busy day, followed by a crazy busy weekend, folks.
I'm about to head to the gym, followed by watching a friend's baby, making food for a church activity on Saturday, getting ready to leave crazy early tomorrow morning for a homeschool convention, having a friend and her little boy come to watch Troy while I'm there, coming home Saturday and heading straight to that church activity, being in the nursery Sunday morning and then getting ready for company to arrive Tuesday, all while carrying a mile-long list of all the other little things to fit in between the big ones. Whew.
So today my brain isn't all there.
Instead, it's here. Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer graciously asked me to write a guest post, so that's where you can find me today, talking about deployment.
Thankfully, I have a little more of a brain over there. I think.

Excellent, excellent post over there Ashleigh!!!
Good morning! I just saw your blog on Shannon's blog and thought I'd come over here and tell you how much your story touched me. My husband worked nights for a few weeks last year and I couldn't even last that long without getting depressed. I greatly admire you and will keep you and your little family in my prayers!
I will be praying for your crazy weekend!! I honestly think though if you werent going a mile a minute, you would be bored!! J/K :)
Gentle hug for you. (((*)))
Good luck with accomplishing everything on your list!
Loved it! It made me cry. Whenever I read things like this, about deployment, it brings back all the memories I have about Dave being gone. I was only 17 the first time!
I'm so happy he's coming home soon!
hope everything goes well! i really enjoyed your post at RIMD :)
That was a beautiful post, Ashleigh. Thanks for sharing!
Keep up the good work. You're on the home stretch now. We're praying for you.
Vickie
Thanks for the good cry! : )
Love you and can't wait to see you tomorrow!
It's amazing the similarities with military and ministry and at the same time I could never fully understand all the things you go through. Thanks for sharing whole heartedly again.
Have a great weekend and of course staying busy helps the time fly faster.
What a lovely, lovely post you left over at Rock in My Dryer. Thank you for YOUR sacrifice and for sharing your story.
I just read your post at Rocks in My Dryer. It brought tears to my eyes. You are a wonderful writer! What an amazing testimony of how with God's help you've turned a period that could be nothing but mourning into dancing. I was overjoyed to hear your husband is coming home soon! Thank you for this eye-opening posts of what we can do for other military wives to help them out during this tough time. Thank you for sharing.
I read your post and it brings back so many memories. My husband was deployed to Iraq for 14 months in 2006-2007. At that time, my children were 6 and 8. I'm so thankful that you have a good support group. My husband is part of the National Guard---not much of a support group. Although, the guard didn't give me a lot of support--I was never alone. I'm so thankful that we have an amazing God that watched over us and him while he was gone.
Praying for a wonderful homecoming. Actually, I just now got use to my husband being at home.
God Bless!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much for this post. As an Army wife to my hubby & an Army Mom to our son, I love this article. Both my men are home safe at the moment, but we have seen more than our fair share of deployments for both of them. My husband is currently tasked to one of hte hardest jobs in the Army- recruiting. It is becoming very difficult to recruit in these times of war. But anyway, thank you so much to you & your family for your sacrifices too.
The toughest job in the military is being a military wife. Cliche, but true.

My husband is a cop, and for several years he had been wanting to attend the FBI National Academy... for three straight months, 2000 miles away from home. That "distant future" became my "here and now" this past March. We also have two kids; a six year old and an 18 month old. I feel for you. He's been home a month now, and even just last night I was telling him how much I love him and how glad I am that he's home.
Your story really touched me. We ate mac'n'cheese far more often that I hoped we would! :)
I will be praying for you and your family. I can't imagine that much time apart. You're really strong.
Ashleigh....hugsss
Behind every great soldier is a greater woman. He couldn't do what he does without knowing you got his back. Your story was so touching it took me a few minutes to rain in my thoughts.
What a lovely way of sharing your life. Thanks for writing over at Rocks in My Dryer. Thank you.
My first wife could not handle being a military wife so when the chance presented it I got out thinking it would save the marriage, well that was not to be. I moved back to my home state and meet the person with whom I was meant to be with. we have been married 28 years this year.
I'm here from Shannon's blog. Thanks so much for sharing your heart. I appreciate you and the sacrifices your family is making for all of us.
God bless you!
Love the deployment post. It gives a glimpse for us. I usually only think of the deployed and not their families. I always thought it was much harder on the deployed than on the family left home. Now I know differently - thanks for sharing.
I am married to a former Army Ranger and am the daughter of a former Navy man. I love the military and I love America! Thank you for your sacrifice - both you and your husband's!
What a great post Ashleigh!!
I read your article at RIMD. Thanks for pointing out some ways to help those left behind.
I enjoyed reading through your blog some. I noticed the age difference between you and your husband. My daughter is dating someone who is 7 1/2 years older than her. She's 18. He's a terrific Godly man. Do you have any advice for them in case others give them grief about the age difference? I'd appreciate it.
Thinking of you this weekend... hope it's not too crazy for you. Make sure to get some rest. :)
Sending love and prayers,
Carrie
I read the post last Thurs and am finally making my way here to tell you that it was fantastic!
