And then we held wrinkled hands and rocked in our rocking chairs on the front porch

November 6, 2008

You know you’re a parent when you hang on your guy’s arm, giddy and smiling, as you walk in to Walmart while the grandparents wait with the kiddos in the car.

Hot date, you know.

But you know you’re a total geek (aka, a blogger) if, when you share the aforementioned tidbit with your husband as your pass through Wally World’s automatic doorways, he laughs, replying, “Well, THAT’s a post right there.”

And you tell him, “Actually, it would make a better Tweet.”

Without batting an eye: “Well, not if you develop it. You could, you know, just post this conversation. This right here needs to be posted.”

And so, when your hot Walmart date is over, you go home… and write it up.

Also: I feel it my human duty to inform you that Walmart was playing Christmas music on November 1st. I believe in coming years we will be singing “Deck the Halls” as our Fourth of July theme.

Okay. Carry on.

Our Wal-Mart has not only the Christmas music playing, but a 50 foot tree right in the entrance to the food section.

Yep! Enjoyed the lovely Christmas music myself just the other day (the 4th as a matter of fact). When you walk into our local Walmart you are greeted by a small Christmas tree. Call me silly, but I was actutally giddy over seeing it! (LOL)

:D LoL. Funny how your deffinition of “Hot Date.” Changes after there are kids in tow. Even if it is just Wally World. A few short minutes wandering through store iles alone with your man seems heavenly. As for the Christmas music . . . whats wrong with Christmas in July? I love Christmas and the 4th of July. They’re my two favorite holidays. Why not celebrate them together :D

That’s the only way my husband and I can get a date! We have to pretend that running errands on the rare occassion that we get to go out alone is our special couple time, lol.

Tweet? As in tweety bird? I’m so lost, huh?

Rocky and I, at 50 years old and 20 years married, still have fun dates like that! Sometimes we go (intentionally) to the Arco station and buy cokes then just drive around a bit before we head home. ;o) Anywhere with him is a treat.
