A couple days ago I saw a bit of chatter on Twitter about a campaign to show people the “real me.” Or you. Or whoever.
Since I’m always up for a good dose of authenticity (I know, shocking, right?) and believe 99.999% of people are far less put together than they choose to present themselves (especially online–and that includes me), I clicked around and looked at the original post as well as a few of my blog buddies who have participated so far.
I love it.
No makeup. No pretenses. No perfection. Just everyday reality.
But since I’ve just recently posted a picture in all my makeup-less, ponytailed, glasses-wearing glory, as well as doing another home related video in which I freely admit I was day worn and weary, I figured I didn’t really need to beat the dead horse.
So I decided to do something that’s actually far more difficult for me than being fresh faced–I’m going to show you the real house. Smack dab in the middle of moving month, but not close enough to moving day to actually call this acceptable.
Here you have it. The Real Me… Home Edition.

LOL! “Mom, who are you talking to?” I’m not even moving and my laundry is OFTEN in the same predicament that yours is. What is it about putting clothes away that is so terribly dreadful? When I find out, I’ll let you know…Thanks for sharing the real you!

Um…this is what my home looks like and we’re not moving so I think you’re doing pretty good.
My favorite part: watching Peter Pan duck in and out. Too cute. :)

I had to laugh at “Mom, who are you talking to?” That was so cute. :) You are a brave soul…. But the real you is very do-able, I must admit. You’re pretty put together considering you’re moving, you have 2 tots, and nobody was napping. :) Groovy Mama.

Hee Hee! Don’t you just love moving? You’ll get through it. At least you’ll have grandma to watch the boys while you unpack on the other end of it :D Wish I were available to help out with that too, but you know . . . baby will be making an appearance around that time. Hang in there, and Happy Packing.

And your house really doesn’t look THAT bad for being in the middle of packing and all ;)
We all love the real you!
And your boys are adorable as ever; love the peter pan outfits

I LOVE IT!!!!!! I am a retired military wife. My two oldest are 26 & 21. My two youngest are 6 & 3…..BOYS!!!!! I was one of those military wives that had a SPOTLESS home – all the time. 2 weeks before my husband retired I found out I was pregnant with my 6 year old son. My life has changed so much over the past few years. I am now “real life” and it kills me….but seeing your life – WOW!!!! It makes it easier for me to swallow (ME not being “perfect” anymore HA!!!!!! Right!!!!). I feel like I am NORMAL with these boys and all the craziness that goes along with them.
Thank you Ashleigh for being “real”. It know it is all in good fun – but truthfully, you have really given me some peace in my own little home and brain.
Blessings on your upcoming move. It’s rough, but you look like your doing great. Starbucks and chocolate go a long way!!!!! LOL!!!! Oh, and going to the gym. With childcare. And showers. Oh,and a good selection on your ipod. :)

Oh Thank you for posting that! I love it, so cute!!! My laundry situation is pretty crazy, much worse than yours! But it gave me a tiny bit of consolation seeing that not EVERYone is 100% caught up. YOU, however, have a reason! LOL I have a gigantic laundry pile in the garage in front of the washer/dryer, and the clean clothes are also piling up in a major way… who has time to put them away?!?! :) I have a closet floor, a chair, and a bassinet full of clean, unfolded laundry. I have run out of places to hide it when people come over… I guess I better do it, being I have 3 sleeping kids right now. Ugh. I kinda just want to read! Kevin gave his blessing. Esther here I come. The laundry will be there later, yah? xo Love your cute boys!! Your Haiti post brought tears.

I am so very proud of you, Ash! I *know* how hard it was to let us all see your real life house. :)
Smiling real big, laughing along with you, and loving you lots and lots. :)
P.S. Seeing the boys and seeing the house made me miss you terribly and almost made me cry. Wish I could be there to help you pack and move!

Okay, so even in your intro, I was admiring your beautiful stairs and then drooled over the “UPSTAIRS” laundry room….cracked up at Troy asking who you were talking to…lol…LOVE your real live “in the midst of it” house :) It looks SO much cleaner than my “in the midst of it” house. Love you, and wanted to give you a big ole hug when I saw your beautiful face. ((((HUG)))
